Class of 2009
Washington High School star Dyricus Simms-Edwards
of the 17-U Illinois Wolves has offers on the table from
Missouri State, Wichita State and Illinois
State. Kansas State, Colorado, Purdue
and St. Louis are all among the schools actively tracking
him. Simms-Edwards, who will open the month of July at Reebok
U, is a player who is expected to be a very hot commodity
for coaches to see throughout the month of July.
Former Glenbrook North star Billy Donlon, who is
now the Associate Head Coach at Wright State, is
not only a real good dude, but also a fast-rising coaching star
who is held in high regard.
Class of 2010 Chicago Foreman stars Lavonte Dority
and Mike McCall, and Class of 2010 Seton Academy
star Kenny Stevenson are all expected at the Indiana
University Elite Camp this week.
Last weekend, Warren Township defeated Niles Notre
Dame to win the 40-team Hoop Mountain Shootout at
West Aurora High School. Some of the top individual
performances included a 38-point effort by Matt Drufke of
Lake Park, a 32-point, and a 28-point effort from Joe
Belcaster of Morton and a 29-point effort by
Chasson Randle of Rock Island. Illinois-bound
Brandon Paul led Warren to the title. Niles Notre
Dame rode a strong team effort to the title game with
Jimmy Martin being their top player with games of 23 and 21
points.
Jason Williford of American University is a real
good dude.
Former Chicago Marshall star Mike Stovall, a 6-5
guard, and former Belleville star Jeremy Felton, a
6-6 post, of Mineral Area Community College have both
been invited to the Top 100 Juco Showcase this July in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event features the top junior college
basketball prospects in the country.
Riverside-Brookfield High School is enjoying a stong run
this June. In addition to winning their own
Riverside-Brookfield Shootout, the team is sporting a 16-2
record in the month of June with their two losses coming at a
combined total of 6 points. Senior Dan Oswald has led the
way with juniors Sean McGonagill and Billy Vandemerkt,
and sophomore Ryan Jackson all playing strong.
Class of 2009 Chicago St. Patrick star Tim Traversa
of the 17-U Illinois Wolves attended the St. Louis
University Elite Camp earlier this month. Traversa, a
strong-framed and athletic 6-3 point guard, will likely also
take visits to see Eastern Kentucky, Murray State,
Ball State and Loyola.
The York Summer Shootout is set for this Saturday and
Sunday at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois with a
strong field of 32 teams including Homewood-Flossmoor,
Oak Park-River Forest, Morton, Chicago St.
Ignatius, Chicago St. Rita and Waukegan.
